Cream Workshop" Event for 5-Year-Old Students at MERLAB
Operating under Isparta University of Applied Sciences, the Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (MERLAB) continues its activities organized to strengthen interaction with society and support scientific curiosity in children at an early age. In this context, a "Cream Workshop" event was held with the participation of 5-year-old students from Seyit Onbaşı Kızılay Kindergarten.
The event aimed to enable students to get to know the laboratory environment closely and discover the relationship between science and daily life. At the beginning of the program, MERLAB Director Tuğba Sardohan Köseoğlu provided the little students with brief information about what kind of work scientists do and what research is conducted in laboratories.
In the practical part of the event, during the workshop session conducted under the guidance of MERLAB Deputy Director İkbal Demet Nane, students experienced the stages of cream making in a hands-on manner. In this process, the children had the opportunity to develop fundamental scientific thinking skills—such as recognizing materials, following the sequence of operations, and establishing cause-and-effect relationships—in a fun environment.
Thanks to the "Cream Workshop" event, while students found the opportunity to both experience a scientific environment closely and participate in a hands-on activity, the university's educational activities contributing to society were once again brought to the fore.
