Scientific Discovery with Young Students at MERLAB: "Cream Workshop" Event

Operating under the umbrella of Isparta University of Applied Sciences, the Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (MERLAB) has added a new initiative to its activities aimed at raising scientific awareness among children.

The "Cream Workshop" event, organized for the 4-year-old age group of Sezer-Mehmet Aldan Kindergarten, introduced children to scientific processes at an early age while allowing them to gain learning-based experiences in a laboratory environment. Within the scope of the event, an informative presentation was delivered by the Director of MERLAB, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğba Sardohan Köseoğlu, regarding the center's scientific capabilities and ongoing research studies.

During the practical session conducted under the guidance of MERLAB Deputy Director, Asst. Prof. Dr. İkbal Demet Nane, the children had the opportunity to combine fundamental scientific thinking skills—such as selecting ingredients, following application sequences, and establishing cause-and-effect relationships—with an entertaining experience.

Designed around the concept of cream production, this workshop epitomizes the university's commitment to community service and successfully demonstrates the applicability of scientific education for early childhood age groups.
